At the WAAS@65 conference on July 22, 2025, leading voices came together to explore how today’s turbulence can be a catalyst for conscious social evolution. Moderator Mila Popovich, Director General for Interculturalism in the Government of Montenegro and Trustee of WAAS, guided the panel in addressing how shifts in values, governance, and collective vision can turn breakdowns into breakthroughs.
WAAS Fellow Lawrence Ford, Founder & CEO of the Conscious Capital Foundation, shared that humanity is at a turning point where we must redefine value, purpose, and meaning in our systems.
“We are moving deeply into the death of the Age of Knowledge, where intellect and information have been prime. It is a fascinating time to be alive.”
He emphasized that artificial intelligence is not an external threat but a reflection of the systems humanity has built:
“Artificial intelligence is a mirror of our core systems—it shows us what we have created with our incentives, and it will magnify us off the cliff if we’re not careful.”
Calling for a radical shift in what we value, Ford urged the audience to consider a redefinition of economic success:
“Imagine if we moved from GDP to GD Purpose™—not as a soft idea, but as a serious economic indicator that shapes our future.”
He reminded participants that when individuals align with their true purpose, it creates a ripple effect of peace and possibility:
“When we’re on purpose and living our purpose, we have inner peace. And when more of us do it, we have world peace.”
